Why go gluten and sugar (fructose) free through choice? More and more we are seeing the effects of these two elements at play in our chronic illness pandemic. The more I studied, the more information I uncovered on just how detrimental these elements are to our health. Since giving them up I have never felt better. It is also hitting the headlines, so awareness is increasing. But I didn’t want to give up my favourite foods, so I went about inventing recipes that left out the bad stuff, replaced it with good stuff and still tastes as good! Win win. And I lost weight without feeling deprived as my body adjusted to being fed what it needed.

I also discovered that the key to becoming your ideal weight is to not focus on losing weight. I repeat, the key to your ideal weight is not to focus on losing weight. In fact I would go so far as to say throw out the weighing scales. Your loose waist band will tell you if you’re going in the right direction! The focus, instead, should be on being your healthiest self and your body will find its natural cropped-IMG_20140520_173838.jpgshape. And that won’t mean a life of boredom and abstinence. And what a liberating feeling it is to never worry about what the scales say!

When you know how the body functions and which foods taste good whilst making you feel fantastic, the rest just follows. With a few changes, that merry-go-round of dieting, feeling deprived, losing and piling it back on again disappears.

Breaking the cycle is what it is about. But I suppose a new cycle is formed. One where you eat right, enjoy it, feel fantastic and stick to it without effort. The only effort that is required is in the beginning, to get rid of all the old ways.
