Here are some of my store cupboard essentials and why I use them:

Uncle Roy's essencesUncle Roy’s essences These are fantastic. Removing foods with fructose sometimes leaves you with less choice on the flavour front. Maple syrup for example. I just add a few drops of Maple essence to Rice Syrup (see below) and you have a fructose free version of maple syrup. Click here to visit their website

buckwheat flourBuckwheat flour This has a great taste and bakes well in regular recipes. But be careful it is gluten free, health food shops will give you advice on this, if it doesn’t say gluten free on the packaging avoid it.

photostudio_1461506149592Virgin coconut oil Has loads of uses but it is particularly good for making homemade chocolate.

photostudio_1461506674989Glucose is converted into energy by the body. It is brilliant for baking, and changing to it’s use is a great way of weaning you off fructose. A brilliant book by David Gillespie called ‘The Sweet Poison Quit Plan’ is a great read if you want to remove fructose from your life. Believe me you do!

quinoa flourQuinoa (pronounced ‘keen-wah’) flour This is the only high protein, low carb flour I’ve found that is stable enough to be used as a pastry. It has a strong flavour, so it works better with savoury fillings but I have used it to top a fruit pie and it still went down a storm with the kids!

biona rice syrupRice Syrup (or Rice Malt Syrup) Is derived from boiling up rice. It is very sweet and sticky and I’ve used it in all sorts of things, from chocolate and biscuits to topping pancakes. I prefer the Biona brand as it has a milder taste. I hope this ends up in the supermarkets soon. Completely fructose free.

Marigold Vegetable Bouillion Powder Vegan Marigold Swiss Vegetable Bouillon Powder Vegan Is brilliant for being gluten, fructose and dairy free to anyone can use it.

kallo beef stock cubes Stock cubes Most stock cubes will have nasty things in them, added sugar and MSG, but these are allergen free. They also come in vegetable and chicken too.
